In every station, there are two lifeguards on foot patrolling equipped with whistle, life buoy and hand-held radio. The boat station 2 is the lifeguard and rescue command center.
Boracay Island has been divided into 3 major districts: the Barangay Yapak in the north, Barangay Manoc-Manoc in the south and Barangay Balabag in the center of the island. These three barangays are part of the 17 barangays belonging to the Municipality of Malay in Aklan.
Some say that the Boracay Map looks like a waving hand and its two main attractions are located at the wrist of the hand. The wrist is where the pulse is and it pulsates an active life, night or day.
Boracay boasts the world's finest beaches - a broad 3.5 kilometer stretch of sun-drenched sand, washed by perpetually turquoise-ish water, a nature worshipper's heaven on earth. White Beach runs almost the entire length of the western side of the island. During the peak season (December till July) White Beach is ideal for day frolics in its warm water, to cool off from those sweaty summer's tropical heat.
Part of Boracay's appeal is that going around - there are no buses, jeepneys, cars, taxis or planes on the island. None are really required as the whole island is only 7km long. White Sand Beach provides for most needs with facilities within easy walking distance.
