Davao Oriental: Have Fun with Water

The magnificence of the forms of water takes place at Davao Oriental.

Waterfalls never cease to amaze me. Looking at powerful water splash mightily is really site to behold. It really makes you appreciate the glory of nature. It doesn’t hurt that it is a very scenic site to behold. Seeing it is even a little magical for me, because I remember all the stories I heard when I was a kid about mermaids hanging out in sites like these. If you want to get your share of breathtaking waterfalls, Davao Oriental is for you.

Davao Oriental is one of the provinces in Mindanao. Aside from the waterfalls that I have just mentioned, there are also a lot of water-related wonders that you can also explore when you are visiting this place.

It is located in the southeast of Mindanao, independent of Davao del Sur and Davao de Norte. The province was given its identity through Republic Act No. 4867 on May 8, 1967.The dialects that people speak here are - Cebuano/Visayan, Tagalog/Pilipino, and Mandaya. Many also understand and speak English.

The really, really rainy season in this place is from November to January.

Water wonders

Some of the waterfalls are located at- Cateel, Boston, Baganga, Tarragona, and San Isidro. Baganga houses the famous Rubilinda Falls while Canteel is home to a stair-like water fall made up of 84 flowing waterfalls. That’s water’s grandeur at its finest.

Water is more relaxed in the beaches that Davao Oriental has. Come and visit the beaches of Mati, Manay, Tarragona, Lupon, Baganga, Gov. Generoso, and San Isidro. There are a lot of activities that you can engage in. Mati, for example, is home to Dahican Beach, a beach wonderful for wind surfing and hobby-cat sailing. You’re sure to have a blast with these activities. And if you rather sit back and relax, there’s always the sky, sea and white sand to accompany you and give you a most relaxing experience!

You can also visit a couple of manmade structures; both ancient and modern. Let’s come and take a look.

The structures of Davao Oriental

The Altar Cave of Davao Oriental is a fascinating and unique structure to behold. All of us have seen altars of different sorts around the world, but it’s definitely rare to see an altar made out of stones that’s facing the Pacific Ocean. The altar is 60 feet high above the shoreline.

Saoquegue Cave can give you another adventure during your visit. Through the rocky structure you can see artefacts like jars, porcelain and pottery. It’s always good to view the old possessions of ancestors in their actually setting. It adds drama and adventure to the experience.

Although it’s in Davao where almost of the Muslims of the Philippines live, there’s also a good number of Catholic followers in the population which is why there are also churches in Davao. Caraga Church is one of them. It can also make for an interesting place to visit as the construction of the church dates back to the colonization of the Spanish. The Philippines got their Catholic religion from the Spanish, making the Philippine the only Catholic country in the Asia.

So you see, there’s something waiting for you in the south of the Philippines! Water falls, blue seas and ancient structures are waiting! Mindanao is famous for being a well kept nature spot in the Philippines. For sure, you will find a lot of that can suit you interest when you visit this place.

Go and watch a beautiful sunset, explore culture, and have a good time! It’s time to get back to the basics and appreciate nature in its beauty and in its magnificence.

It’s time you pay Davao Oriental a visit!
