“Do it in style!” this is what I think Greenbelt would say to people if it could talk. This is surely one of the things that people love about Greenbelt. One of the upmarket destinations of the Philippines located in Makati beside Glorieta; it is often second home to the working class, to college students, as well as foreigners who live near by. During weekends, families also go here to have a good time.
Who says you have to look like a train wreck after going out?
Greenbelt seems to agree as it provides people with an alluring experience that leaves you feeling pampered, rested, and satisfied.
No matter what the occasion is, if it’s in Greenbelt, it’s surely going to be special. People who go there, especially at night, often make an effort to look their best. As they say, it’s “Dress to impress.”
The surroundings of Greenbelt provide a relaxing feeling, similar to what a spa does. Lush and beautifully maintained landscapes plus classy architecture everywhere. These things always seem to make my shopping there entertaining in spite of all my efforts to find the perfect blouse, pants or dress. This also proves to be true for other matters such as a get-togethers, movie nights, etc.
Greenbelt is made up of Greenbelt 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Most of the things sold here are high-end, though there are also some that are more or less affordable.
Greenbelt 5, the newly opened wing of Greenbelt, is now the buzz of Makati. It is one of the places lots of people look forward to going to on a Friday night. Its granite floor, high ceiling and chandeliers will make you feel like you are in a hotel instead of a mall.
A line of newly opened restaurants are available, some of which are its only branch in Luzon. Fish Out of Water, La Maison, Classic Confections, and Travel Café are some of the unique restaurants that can be chosen from.
Fish Out of Water is a delight to dine in. The restaurant serves steak as well as fish presented in a rather tasteful manner. I recommend that you try their meals with wine on the side to really taste the flavor of the food.
Shops include the usual designer labels – Michael Kors, Balenciaga, Steve Madden, and more. Established Filipino designers also merchandise their work here. Kate Torralba one of the well known Filipino designers displays her fashionably chic line here. Fashion for the more mature shopper is catered to with Lulu Tan Gan. Several more shops of Filipino designers are also in this area.
Sometimes, it’s good to treat ourselves to something we really want and splurge as long as we don’t overdo it. So for moments when you really must have that (insert item)….go ahead and shop!
Outside Greenbelts 5 is a series of fountains that look beautiful at night. You can go window-shopping at this area and just enjoy the company of the people you’re with. If you’re by yourself, it’ll be a good way to pass the time and reflect, then again, you can also go window-shopping. It really depends on your preference.
This streak of designer wear parades itself up to Greenbelt 4 with Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, DKNY, etc.
A more affordable Top Shop comes to the scene at Greenbelt 3. This, together with another batch of shops to choose from. For soap and other beauty products that can give you the pampering that you need, go to Lush.
A cinema complex is there at Greenbelt 3 at the top most floor. There’s also one at Greenbelt 1, though the one in the Greenbelt 3 is the latest one. What’s good about its cinema is its stadium type structure which makes you feel comfortable and undisturbed even if plenty of people are watching. Beside the cinema are stalls where you can buy food to munch on while enjoying a movie.
A row of coffee shops are located here at the ground floor such as Starbucks and Seattle’s Best. Grappa’s Ristorante, is also an option, for coffee, though they also serve tasty Italian meals.
If you’d rather stand up and dance, there’s Temple Bar, which people usually go to party and rip the dance floor.
For a Mediterranean cuisine, you MUST get a bite of Greek food at Cyma. It is truly addicting. I tried it once, because it was recommended by a friend who is into Greek food and have dined there several times after.
Both the Temple Bar and Cyma are located at Greenbelt 2.
Greenbelt 1 is usually the venue for Repertory Philippine’s theatrical performances, at the On Stage theatre. Repertory Philippines is one of the most respected theatrical groups of the country.

Foreigners, or even the locals, take lots of pictures while hanging out in this area. The area is beautifully landscaped, with a pond, with plants as well as stone walks. Landscaping has indeed been turned into an art. There is a balance of everything, which reminds me of the Yin and Yang concept that I learned when I was still in college.
It’s all lit up at night. Since the park is at the centre, it will be a good idea to go to this area around night time and admire all the twinkling lights in the vicinity. It’s simply magnific, I also feel all lit up inside whenever I see it.
An open-air Catholic Chapel; Greenbelt Chapel, is found at the middle of the park. It is a beautiful high ceiling, dome structure. At centre of the white ceiling is a stain-glass icon of God. Surrounding the Icon are lots of of tiny lights that look beautiful at night. Should you want to hear mass here, it’s held from -
Monday-Friday at 7:15 am, 12:15 am, 5:45 pm, and 7:00 pm. On Saturday it’s at 12:15 pm, 4:30 pm, and 6:00 pm, and finally for Sunday, it’s at 7:15 am, 9:00 am, 10:30 am, 12:00 nn, 3:00 pm, 4:30 pm, 6:00 pm, and 7:30 pm.

The fun at Greenbelt never stops. Come visit and treat yourself. You deserve it!
Bridges interconnect the malls in this area. The bridges can lead to Landmark, Glorietta, or SM Department Store. When I have the time, I usually check out the other shopping venues as well. Since Greenbelt is obviously upscale, the three that I just mentioned are more promising when it comes to bargain shopping.
SM Department store is connected to the Metro Rail Transit (MRT), it’s similar to a subway, and can take you to any of its stations.
MRT3 stations are located in North Avenue, Quezon Avenue, Kamuning, Cubao and Santolan- Annapolis, all in Quezon City; Ortigas Avenue in Pasig City; Shaw Boulevard and Boni Avenue in Mandaluyong City; Guadalupe, Buendia(Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue), Ayala Avenue and Magallanes Avenue in Makati City; and Taft Avenue in Pasay City.
You can take the MRT for cheaper transportation though it’s crowded during the peak hours of 7:00 am- 9:00 am and 5:00pm - 7:00 pm.
