In the middle the Pacific Ocean lies the wonderful Philippine Islands, a tropical paradise rich in natural resources. The natural resources of the Philippines are spread towards the magnificent threesome- Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Each main island is quite unique from the other, yet there’s an overall unity in terms of tradition and customs. Almost all of the provinces in the Philippines celebrate festivals for instance.
Here comes another interesting visit in the Philippines. The adventures in the Philippines never seem to end. In the South of the Philippines lies another promising province that can give you can adventure of a life time. From flora, fauna, and picturesque sites, this place will give you lots of interesting sites to visit.
Get yourself an adventure at Zamboanga Sibugay.
The area of the Zamboaga is outside the typhoon belt area and the weather being quite warm most of the time. But just to be sure, it’s always wise to check the current weather conditions before visiting. Or bring a jacket and an umbrella, just in case it rains.
Oyster finds its home here in this beautiful place. It is actually this city’s number one product. This is no surprise since the Philippines is rich in water forms. If you want to eat a whole lot of Oyster, make sure you mark February 24 on your calendar. This marks Sibug-sibug festival, the 3rd foundation day of Zamboanga Sibugay. In the festival there will be a kilometre long grill which will definitely make your mouth water. The oysters in the place are so fresh, you can imagine of juicy and meaty they are. What a unique festival it is!
A Sanctuary of sanctuaries
Dive in the deep at Sibuguey Bay. Enter another world and see different fishes and corals live in their natural habitat. This bay is a fish sanctuary because it is blessed with coral reefs which obviously act like a sanctuary for the fish. It gets even bigger at Tantanan Bay, which is the biggest fish sanctuary in the province. Another sanctuary, but this time only for coral reefs, is found in Pandilusan Island in Payao. I describe this beach as the “pure beach” because of its very clear water and its very fine sand. It rather breathtaking to see the combination, add a clear sky and it will be a perfect getaway. Another promising beach getaway is Litayon Island in the municipality of Alicia.
Snakes have this intensity to it that is frightening but interesting to know more about. They have certainly scared us in the movie Anacoda. What more for snakes that live underwater? You can view these creatures at Pulo Laum at Olutanga, another sanctuary in the area.
Many, many more adventures
Zamboanga Sibugay is also home to waterfalls which is always a pleasure to watch as they simultaneously give powerful splash. Seeing waterfalls always amazes me because it’s a reflection to the power of nature. Tagbilat, Dalisay, Tugop Muslim, Cobacob, Go-otoc, Malagandis, Basay, and Palina Falls in Ipil are some of the waterfalls in the place which you can visit.
Go inside the caves of the Tungawan, Talusan, and Moalboal cave, one of the famous attractions of the place. Exercise those calf muscles and improve your stamina and by going cave exploring. Be Nicolas Cage in National Treasure for a day. Who knows what things you might discover?
This place was actually part of Zamboaga del Sur, but was eventually declared a separate entity and is seen in Republic Act 8973. General Hofer was the person responsible for this place.
This list of things to do goes on. You can see ancient jars that were once used during the place and go site sitting at the mountains and hills of the place.
As a recap, Zamboanga Sibugay is a place which can offer you a great adventure. It can offer you a relaxing one, or an extremely tiring but enjoyable one. With beautiful and interesting sites such as these who needs to rest? Let us all live by the saying, “Carpe Diem” and seize the day!
Bring out the adventure seeker in you and visit Zamboanga Sibugay. Visit a land filled with natural resources and scenic views. Mindanao maybe the south most island but it’s certainly not the least!
